Uma caixa de 5 CD com gravações dos arquivos de Joni Mitchell tem edição agendada para o dia 30 de outubro. Tem por título Joni Mitchell Archives Vol 1: The Early Years (1963-1967) e inclui, entre as gravações recolhidas, 29 canções originais nunca antes editadas na voz da cantora e compositora.
As gravações mais antigas datam de 1963 (tinha Joni Mitchell 19 anos) e surgiram na ocasião de uma atuação na CFQC AM, uma estação de rádio local em Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, de onde era natural. Nessa sessão tocou uma versão de House of The Rising Sun, que agora serve de single (digital) de apresentação a esta caixa.
As gravações mais recentes deste lote de material de arquivo datam de 1967 e correspondem a uma atuação num clube (o Canterbury House em Ann Arbor, no Michigan).
A caixa inclui um booklet de 40 páginas com imagens e um texto que resulta de uma série de encontros de Joni Mitchell com Cameron Crowe, durante os quais falaram sobre os conteúdos do arquivo.
Além da caixa algumas destas gravações vão ter lançamento separado em vinil, também a 30 de outubro. Early Joni – 1963 corresponde a um LP. Já Live at Canterbury House – 1967 será um LP triplo com uma edição limitada a dez mil exemplares.
